Why ALISSA

There are thousands of ships at sea around the world, carrying tourists and goods, or used as pleasure craft.

Virtually all these vessels are well-equipped with safety devices, both for navigation and emergency purposes.

The latter category includes lifeboats, intended to accommodate all on board if there's a need to abandon ship.

In such an emergency, these are designed to be lowered into the sea by cranes, maintaining a certain speed.

Unfortunately, these boats have a particular drawback, of which 99% of passengers are unaware.

In such an emergency, these are designed to be lowered into the sea by cranes, maintaining a certain speed.

This limitation is that if the mother ship is heeling above a certain extent (20°), the boats are effectively useless; because they can tip over during the descent, due to friction or obstacles on the ship’s side, causing injury to people, general panic and even worse.

This led to the idea of designing a system that would allow one to lower a lifeboat into the sea even when the ship was heeling above a certain degree, thus ensuring a safe descent for all the boats and all the passengers.

That's why ALISSA was created

So how does it work?
